Taking Part

The last few weeks have been very busy, with many opportunities for the students in room 5 to extend their knowledge and try new things.

The Year 8's tried something new when they attended the Kuranui College Open day.  They had the opportunity to have a good look around the college and meet some of the other students who will be in their year group.

The Matharapa competition saw six students from Room 5, compete against teams from other schools around the Wairarapa.  Two teams of three (a Year 7 team, and a Year 8 team) competed well and represented our school with pride.

A large group of Room 5 students also took part in the Football Tournament, held at Carrington Park in Carterton.  Our two teams were fierce but fair competitors, as they played in the social grade against other schools from around Carterton and the South Wairarapa.  I was really impressed by the way both teams gelled together, and played positively.  Everyone was supported and encouraged to play their absolute best.  Although it was a long and tiring day, they gave it their all right to the very end.

With the hockey tournament coming up on the 15th of September, the skills lessons with Sharon have been invaluable.  Passing the ball with accuracy, and trapping, are all skills that will help them in tournament games.
