Hockey Tournament

On Tuesday, in the beautiful sunshine and 20 degree heat, a group Year 7 and 8 students competed in the South Wairarapa Hockey Tournament at Clareville.  They were fierce competitors and displayed great teamwork and tremendous sportsmanship.

Our team showed off their fantastic passing skills in the nil all draw against South End School in their first game.  They then played hard against Pirinoa, with an unlucky last minute ricochet ending the game with a 1-2 loss.  The game against Greytown School was amazing, with the St Teresa's team frustrating their strikers and winning by two goals to nil.

In the finals, our team played for third place against Martinborough School.  This was the toughest game yet.  Martinborough had a couple of very strong hockey players in their midst who were able to break through our defenses.  The final result was a 0-3 loss, and a bump on the head for one of our players.

All in all, our team was happy with their overall fourth placing in the competition, and I was very impressed by the behaviour and determination of our team.  Well done!

This was yet another way that the students at St Teresa's School were able to show, and further develop, their talents and skills in areas outside the classroom environment.
